Linden Lab appoints Lewis PR in Japan

TOKYO - Lewis PR has been selected as the agency of record for Linden Lab, creator of the virtual world Second Life, in Japan.

Linden Lab launched Second Life in Japan in 2006. As a 3D online world, Second Life empowers its “residents” to create content, interact with others, launch businesses, collaborate and educate.

Lewis has been commissioned by Linden Lab to develop a communications strategy for Second Life that includes deepening understanding of the opportunities that lie within the platform. In addition, the agency aims to strengthen Linden Lab’s position as the virtual world’s platform leader.

Mark Kingdon, CEO at Linden Lab, said, “Lewis has developed an aggressive and creative communications programme that will further elevate the company's brand and that really starts the process of communicating our commitment to grow in Japan.”

Fred Tanaka, general manager of Lewis in Tokyo, will lead the programme reporting to Jason Link, Linden Lab’s marketing and PR manager in Japan.

“The level of creative talent, energy and passion for Second Life by Japanese users is second-to-none and we look forward to communicating the many and varied benefits of virtual worlds as Linden Lab embarks upon the next phase of its development here,” said Tanaka.
