Y&R could not comment on Ong’s new role, but the agency’s Singapore office recently underwent an organisational restructure which saw the departure of chief creative officer James Procter and the promotion of Toh Han Ming to creative director.
Ong joined EURO early in 2010, having previously been creative director at Ogilvy Shanghai where he worked on brands including Lee Jeans and The North Face. He is also a filmmaker with over a decade of industry experience spanning across China and Malaysia, having worked on brands including Guinness, Nokia, Citibank, Sony, P&G, and Toyota.
It is understood Ong is still fulfilling his contractual obligations to EURO RSCG but that agency is not quite ready to announce his replacement.
EURO RSCG’s CEO Singapore & Malaysia Andrew Crombie said that the agency has been working for some time to find a top-level replacement to take its creative output to the next level in KL.
“This shift marks a real opportunity to revamp our creative offering and we've already signed a top tier ECD and senior writer that we will announce shortly. In the meantime, we wish Kit the best in his next move and are proud of the work we've done together,” said Crombie.
