JWT makes leadership change in Hong Kong

Matt Parry appointed as MD as CEO Mark Webster continues in chairman role.

Matt Parry, previously business director and business unit general manager at J. Walter Thompson Shanghai, has been appointed as MD of JWT Hong Kong. Mark Webster, previously chairman and CEO, will continue in his role as chairman.

Parry's path follows that of ECD Carlos Camacho, who moved from Shanghai to Hong Kong in August.

A 12-year veteran of the network, Parry is returning to Hong Kong, where he worked from 2012 through 2016, after beginning his JWT career in London.

“It’s great to be heading back to Hong Kong, a place I have deep affection for and a strategically critical market with huge potential," Parry said in a media release, adding that the agency has a team of "exceptional talent" in place.

"Matt Parry is a tremendous talent who has ably demonstrated his leadership capabilities, forging strong bonds with clients and colleagues alike," John Gutteridge, Asia Pacific CEO, said in the release. "He and [Camacho] have a proven track record of developing highly innovative solutions, and I’m more than confident that, together, they bring a shared vision for the future growth of our operations in Hong Kong.”

Webster said Parry and Camacho "embody exactly the type of new leadership talent we need for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead".
