JWT adds Barry Leung as Always Shanghai MD

SHANGHAI - Barry Leung has been appointed as managing director of JWT China's field marketing discipline Always (Shanghai) Marketing Services.

As a key member to the JWT China Group management team, in his new role, Leung will work closely with Cai Hua, CEO of Always, to develop new expertise, service offerings and business for Always.

The company's operations are divided across various disciplines, including field force management, market intelligence, road show and event management, activation strategy consultation, and POSM management.

Speaking of Leung's appointment, Tom Doctoroff, JWT Greater China CEO and Asia area director, said, “Barry brings a wealth of proven experience in retail strategy. He is also a consummate advertising professional and his leadership will reinforce an already robust collaboration between JWT and Always to ensure big creative ideas find their way to the end of aisles in supermarkets throughout China."

Leung joins from Bates 141 as Greater China regional director. Prior to that he was president of OgilvyAction in China. He has 25 years' experience in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Mainland, working with major brands Buick (SGM), Nokia and 555 in China.

Commenting on the retail scene in China, Leung said, “Nothing happens unless it happens at the retail. Retail in China is fast changing, fascinating and exciting."

Based in Shanghai with 75 offices across China, Always Marketing Services has been part of JWT since 2006.
