Jiangsu and other local TV networks to 'live auction' advertising slots

BEIJING - At least three local TV networks in China - Anhui, Jiangsu and Hunan – are believed to have plans to live auction their advertising time slots this year, following the example of CCTV’s famous annual bidding.

This year, the base price for sponsoring the a popular TV dating show from Jiangsu TV station 'If you are the one' (fei cheng wu rao — pictured) is set at US$5.9 million (RMB40 million) for a season. The total base price for TV and online advertising slots and sponsorship for the whole year of 2011 is US$59 million (RMB400 million), making it the most expensive show for advertisers.

Sponsorship fee for Hunan TV's decade-old show 'Joyful Base Camp' (kuai le da ben ying) for six months is set at US$5.6 million (RMB38 million).

Anhui TV station will hold the bidding on 20 November, while Jiangsu and Hunan's auctions are to be held on 5 and 10 November respectively — all ahead of CCTV's upfront ads sales.
