India's Ministry of Tourism returns to Ogilvy Delhi

DELHI - Ogilvy Delhi has been awarded the India Ministry of Tourism creative account, following a multi-agency pitch.

India's Ministry of Tourism returns to Ogilvy Delhi

The win marks a return of the account to Ogilvy, which helped to launch the flagship "Incredible India" campaign with the Ministry in 2003.

The contract period is for three years, with Ogilvy asked to provide strategy and a creative vision for the continuing campaign. Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and creative director for Ogilvy South Asia, says the agency will aim to "align with and take 'Incredible India' to the next level in both the domestic and international markets".

Sanjay Thapar, group president - North and East, Management, of Ogilvy & Mather New Delhi, says the win has helped to further cement the agency's credentials in the tourism sector. Ogilvy New Delhi also boasts accounts such as MP Tourism, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, and Gujurat Tourism.

Ogilvy India has established its capabilities in the tourism sector, having created laudable campaigns for the likes of MP Tourism, MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation), and Gujarat Tourism. Ogilvy Delhi is currently handling J&K Tourism and has been empanelled with HP and Rajasthan Tourism in the past. "This is probably one of the best things that could happen to us at the start of 2012," Thapar said. "Building a brand for the country is probably one of the highest honours that any agency can be given and I am so happy that we have received this opportunity once again for India."

Tourism is the second largest export business in India, and the Ministry is keen to further promote the country's diversity of culture and geography.
