The iButterfly app, which is already active in Japan and Hong Kong, allows smartphone users to collect virtual butterflies and redeem entertainment, information and discount coupons.

Mitsuyuki Nakamura, CEO of Dentsu Media Thailand, said the iButterfly app would eventually replace conventional marketing promotions in the country, adding that the app has received a “very good response” from brands including Sony Ericsson, Honda and retail developer Central Pattana.

He said, “We view that the development of e-promotion in Thailand will be consistent in a fun and easy-to-use way, so we are committed to offer benefits, discounts, free gifts and prizes to attract our target group.”

Retail developer Central Pattana said it plans to integrate iButterfly into its marketing approach to offer customers a range of privileges and special discounts.
