The move comes four months after JWT Japan’s chief executive Wataru Kageyama’s resignation on personal grounds

Kitajima joined JWT Japan in 2009 as lead account director for TaylorMade-Adidas Golf, Ricoh, Bayer and Amway. In 2012, he was promoted to managing account director, which included financial responsibilities across JWT’s client accounts.

Prior to joining JWT, Kitajima worked at both Hakuhodo:Lintas and Hakuhodo.

JWT Japan has also promoted Takumi Ichihara to the position of general manager. Ichihara has been with JWT for about 21 years and worked on a host of clients including Unilever Lux, Disney Entertainment, Jack Daniels and Jaguar.

“The promotions of Kitajima and Ichihara ensure that JWT’s leadership will boast a winning combination of depth and dynamism,” said Tom Doctoroff, JWT's Asia-Pacific CEO. “What’s special about Kitajima ia his take-no-prisoners passion, and clients and colleagues feel his drive and commitment.”
