Dentsu Aegis Network announced a new leadership team for Happy Mcgarrybowen in India, promoting Samarjit Choudhry from COO to president and appointing Soumitra Karnik as chief creative officer.

Karnik will continue in his current role as CCO of Dentsu Impact.

The appointments follow the October departures of CEO Kartik Iyer, MD Praveen Das and senior creative director Bodhisatwa Dasgupta, all of whom left following allegations of sexual harassment—part of a storm of #MeToo-related allegations and resignations that rocked the Indian ad industry in October.

Choudhry joined Happy Mcgarrybowen in 2017 from Leo Burnett India. Karnik joined Dentsu Aegis Network in 2012 from J Walter Thompson.

"With its new leadership in place, I am more than confident that the agency is now in extremely able hands," said Ashish Bhasin, DAN's CEO for greater South and chairman and CEO for India.
