Both parties said that the partnership will offer consumers ‘unbeatable prices’ on the best things to do, see, eat and buy in Macau. They also hope to deliver local merchants significant exposure and a steady stream of new customers.

The partnership will involve the launch of two new web portals, connected to each original site, namely http://groupon.hk/deals/macau and http://macau.com/groupon. Both sites will be effective from mid-July onwards.

“We’re proud to welcome Groupon Hong Kong to one of the world’s fastest growing entertainment destinations – Macau,” said Kevin McKenzie, director of Ignite Media Group. “Macau.com is a sought-after online portal, providing a wide range of travel information in Macau. Visitors can now access Groupon’s deals for great packages in Macau without leaving our web portal.”

“We look forward to working with Macau.com to bring Internet users unbeatable deals from top local businesses and create new revenue streams for merchants in Macau,” said Danny Yeung, chief executive officer of Groupon Hong Kong.

In addition to the Groupon partnership, Ignite Media Group is the exclusive Macau partner of China Mobile, MSN, Yahoo Tencent, CCTV Moving Media, Youku.com, SINA, and OpenRice.com.

Nearly 25 million tourists visited Macau in 2010, more than half of them coming from the Mainland.
