GroupM China appoints Tony Chen as digital head

SHANGHAI - GroupM China has appointed Tony Chen as managing director of GroupM Interaction China, effective immediately.

Chen is responsible for the strategic growth and operation of the group's digital business in China, working closely with the digital teams of GroupM agencies to ensure seamless delivery of the group's digital products and services to clients.

Chen has over 16 years' professional experience in Greater China, mostly focused in digital media development and management. Prior to joining GroupM, he was Dell's general manager, consumer direct, for Greater China. He has also worked in senior management roles at Real Network, Ebay and Yahoo in China.

"I was drawn to GroupM for its dedication to provide a complete digital offering to their clients and their willingness to invest in their digital business and people," said Chen, who is based in Beijing and reports directly to Bessie Lee, CEO of GroupM China.

"Digital is one of our key revenue drivers now and in the future. Over the course of the last two years, we have made strategic digital appointments across the agencies and GroupM Interaction to strengthen our digital capabilities," said Lee.

"Tony's sterling credentials in digital business management and development make him our ideal choice to lead our fast growing digital operations," he added.
