The website, launched in 2005, celebrated its fifth anniversary in Beijing earlier this week with a cocktail reception for clients and readers, as well as its 1.5 millionth registered subscriber.

"Since its launch in 2005, FTChinese.com has become an award-winning 'must read' resource for dynamic Chinese business people who want to stay informed about global economics and international business," said John Ridding, CEO, Financial Times.

The Financial Times, as well as its global rival the Wall Street Journal, has been taking the lead as one of the very few international media outlets that run a Chinese language website.
