According to a statement, Shabaz will be taking time off to focus on other personal interests.

Shabaz started at JWT as associate creative director and was promoted to ECD in March 2008. He joined from BBDO Singapore in 2005.

During his tenure at JWT, he has won awards including a Grand Prix at Spikes Asia for SilkAir’s 'Cinema takeover' campaign and has aided the growth of the WPP network’s Singapore office.

“While we are incredibly disappointed to see Ali leave, we wish him continued success in the future,” said Tay Guan Hin, JWT’s regional ECD. “He has done a tremendous job in raising the profile of the office and was integral to the success of the JWT network.”

“Ali has been a great partner, encouraging a spirit of teamwork across the agency that has enabled us to flourish,” added Angus Fraser, JWT Singapore’s MD.

A spokesperson noted that a replacement for Shabaz is currently being finalised and would be announced in due course.
