Dentsu Aegis Network today announced the launch of Columbus Malaysia, joining the stable of 13 DAN marcomms agencies in the country.

Columbus will strengthen DAN’s digital marketing capabilities in Malaysia, with offerings including search, social media, content and analytics. It will operate in parallel with DAN’s existing digital performance brand in Malaysia, Consider iProspect.

Abdullah Alkury has been appointed managing director of Columbus Malaysia. He was previously head of business development at Consider iProspect. Matthew Wong, formerly a Consider iProspect associate, also joins Columbus as business director.

"We're very excited to launch Columbus Malaysia and bring proven expertise from the business overseas to deliver great results for our clients locally,” said Alkury. “Businesses here are rapidly beginning to adopt online marketing as a core part of their marketing strategies, with internet penetration at one of the highest in the Southeast Asia region.”

Nicky Lim, CEO of DAN Malaysia said: “We have our eyes set on becoming a 100 percent digital economy business, and with Columbus now on board, under the able leadership of Abdullah and Matthew, we’re accelerating that vision as well as significantly enhancing our network’s capability in delivering innovative and diverse solutions to clients.”

Rosemary Lising, Managing Director, Columbus Asia said, “Expanding into Malaysia is yet another milestone for Columbus’ business growth. While performance and experience lie at the core of most brands today, Malaysia sits in a region that is still in the early stages of realising the potential digital has to offer brands.”
