CPRFHK announces winners in up-and-coming PR contest

HONG KONG - The Council of Public Relations Firms in Hong Kong (CPRFHK) today announced the winners of its first competition for student and young PR professionals in Hong Kong.

The new competition encouraged participants to apply their creativity and ideas to develop a comprehensive PR plan that promotes Hong Kong to key international markets targeting either tourists or overseas investors/ businesses. Winners were chosen from two categories including full-or part-time students and young professionals.

The winner of the young professionals first prize is the team of Christopher Lee and Michael Tse, receiving HK$10,000 from the Council of Public Relations Firms of Hong Kong. 

The student category first prize winner is the team of Chris Leung Wai Lam and Jessie Chuen Jing Sum, also received HK$10,000 from competition sponsor Lan Kwai Fong Holdings. 

The runner up teams, including Yvonna Law, Joanna Kong, Polly Yu and Nicky Wong in the young professionals category and Hershey Chan Hiu Yung in the student category, received a one-year media subscription to Campaign Asia-Pacific

“The council is thoroughly impressed by the creativity and professional quality of the PR plans submitted,” said Simeon Mellalieu, chairman of CPRFHK. “We wanted to provide rising public relations professionals with a platform to showcase their talent and compete amongst their peers in the industry. The winners truly took advantage of this opportunity, demonstrating acumen and enthusiasm for the growing public relations industry in Hong Kong.”

The competition was judged by a team of four judges, including Michael O’Neill, editor, Campaign Asia-Pacific; Brett Free, assistant director of the Information Services Department of the HKSAR Government; Chun-ju Flora Hung, associate director of the Center for Media and Communication Research; and Simeon Mellalieu.
