I've just arrived today. And naturally there's already so much talking about the work and the winners. I think I will deviate from that.
What caught my eye today was the China booth, which is an annual affair by the China Advertising Association to promote or let the world know more about China and its advertising industry.
Calling it a booth probably just does it justice this year, as I've noticed that the size of it has doubled to accommodate more people. But what was interesting is that it has created so much attention and interaction between people from different countries and cultures with a simple game: Cannes Lions Play Chinese Xiu Qiu.
"Xiu Qiu" means embroidery ball. In a Chinese lion dance performance, the lion plays with a Xiu Qiu. Therefore in this interactive installation designed for dual-screen interaction, players take the role of the lion, using their mobile phones in an attempt to win a traditional handcrafted Chinese embroidery ball.
Guess what? It wasn't easy to win, but still there were lots of photos being taken.
