BBDO Shanghai ECD Andrew Lok resigns, will return to Singapore

SHANGHAI - Andrew Lok, executive creative director of BBDO Shanghai since 2008, has resigned and will leave the agency at the end of June to move back to his home country of Singapore.

Vincent Pang, the outgoing ECD of McCann Shanghai, will replace Lok at BBDO Shanghai and be on board on 1 July.

During his years at BBDO Shanghai, Lok (pictured), who is is known as “The Loksmith” among industry peers, has been overseeing a portfolio that includes 7UP, FedEx, Lay’s, Mirinda, Pepsi, Puma, Starbucks, Tiffany & Co. and local accounts like Wison and dianping.com.

Over his creative career, he has won numerous international advertising awards, including Clio, Cannes and One Show.

After moving to China from Singapore, some of his career highlights include helping to set up the Interone BBDO office in Beijing, where he and his client management partner won the nationwide BMW account.

After that Lok took the helm at Ogilvy Guangzhou, where he raised the agency’s creative ranking in China. His relationship with Ogilvy continued with a position in Beijing as creative director of Greater China, where he launched two global campaigns for Motorola.

Lok started his career as a journalist with United Press International but switched to advertising in Singapore, working for Bozell, followed by DDB, Batey, Y&R and TBWA.
