Yu will be responsible for expanding WE's activation business, which includes experiential marketing, consumer promotion, trade marketing, shopper marketing, retail/ pop design and digital activation.

"I am pleased to have a senior member with extensive client management and activation experience join our team. Activation has been part of our integrated offering, but we now have committed resources dedicated to developing this business. I am sure Arthur will add value and a fresh perspective to our current and prospective clients," said Viveca Chan, chairman and CEO of WE Marketing.

Arthur Yu has 30 years experience in the communications business, including 13 years on the Chinese mainland. In the past four years, Arthur diverted his focus from traditional advertising to brand activation and led Ogilvy Action between 2006 and 2009.

Bates 141 decided to scale down its Beijing business in October. Most of its employees have already left.
