Having fulfilled his two-year contract with the agency, Nair is returning to his consultancy role.
Nair was appointed as group managing director in Malaysia May last year, replacing Zayn Khan who took on a regional business strategy director role for both South and Southeast Asia within Ogilvy.
Six months later in November, Khan left after almost 10 years with the company to pursue other opportunities.
Badmi's promotion to group managing director is in addition to his current responsibilities as regional business development director on the Nestle account. He will oversee the growth and development of the Malaysian office as well as partner with the agency’s key clients such as Maxis, Nestle, MAS, Shell, IBM, Guinness, BAT, Coke, Goodyear and Pizza Hut.
The agency has experienced strong growth year-on-year and more recently won a slew of international accolades including the Gold, Silver and Bronze Cannes Lions and Silver Pencil at One Show.
Currently based in Singapore, Badami will move to Malaysia later this month. He was the country head at Ogilvy & Mather Indonesia, prior to moving to Singapore.
John Goodman, regional director at Ogilvy & Mather ASEAN and president at Ogilvy Action, Asia Pacific, said, “We’re delighted Anand has accepted this new challenge and we’re grateful to Andre for his commitment to strengthening the agency during his two-year tenure. Malaysia is the key to our Southeast Asia growth strategy and an agency we’ll continue to invest in.”
Badami first joined Ogilvy in India where he played an instrumental role in launching Dove in-market. During his 15-year career with the network, he has worked across multiple Asian markets on client portfolios that include Unilever’s Dove and Ponds as well as Nestle’s MILO and UPS.
