The Shanghai office is the group's third, after Hong Kong and Munich. The new unit will be headed by its chairman Marc Finsterlin.

The agency said that the purpose of opening of its Shanghai office (on 15 July) was to enable clients in the west to access the fastest growing – and for many companies already the biggest – consumer market in the world.

Meanwhile, Patrick Ritter has joinedthe group as executive director of the Hong Kong office. Ritter (pictured) hails from Germany and has over 15 years of work experience in the Asia-Pacific region. He has taken up several senior management roles with multinational and blue chip companies, including Mcafee and CA Technologies. He began his new position on 1 July.

Aquarius Asia, based in Hong Kong, develops digital concepts and realises these for multinational customers across the Asia-Pacific region. Its key clients include Bosch, Hugo Boss and Allianz.

Reported last March, Aquarius Asia has produced a new report on 'E-commerce in China', which revealed that 34 per cent of internet users (142 million online shoppers) engaged in online shopping in 2010.
