According to a release, foreign embassy closures, including the Japanese embassy in Bangkok, due to the political unrest in Thailand has left the Adfest team unable to obtain their passport and visas in order to fly to Tokyo and handle the judging arrangements.

The three-day Adfest festival was due to take place in Pattaya, Thailand from 18 to 20 March. The event was first postponed to the end of May and then cancelled in April due to the escalating political situation in Thailand.

Chairman of the working committee Vinit Suraphongchai, stated they are determined to ensure the Lotus Awards judging takes place despite all the setbacks. The committee is working urgently to find a new date for the judging in Tokyo.

"I would like to thank everyone who has been so patient and understanding in this difficult time for Adfest and the people of Thailand,” said Suraphongchai.

Jimmy Lam, Adfest president, said: "Our jury panelists and colleagues in the Japanese ad industry are very sympathetic. They have expressed their continuing support and are still working hard with us to make the Lotus Awards judging happen soon.”

Adfest expressed their sincere apologies for the inconveniece caused and notes the circumstances are entirely out of its control.

According to the release, a new date will be announced shortly.
