Longtime Ogilvy leader Adam O'Conor is joining Grey Group as chairman and CEO for Greater China.
O'Conor was most recently president of Ogilvy & Mather Group, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. He spent two decades at the agency.
"Adam O'Conor brings a tremendous track record of success to his new role at Grey," Grey's global CEO Michael Houston said in a statement. "As a key architect of the Ogilvy network in Asia, he has demonstrated vision and dynamism in building brands across all communications channels. He has an unparalleled grasp of what clients are looking for in a future-facing marketing partner."
Houston added that as a champion of creativity, O'Conor's appointment is a "clear signal of our ambitions to aggressively pursue growth and expand our reach and resources in China."
O'Conor commented that he has watched Grey's "transformation into a global creative powerhouse over the past decade" and intends to make its China operations a centre of innovation for clients and growth.
Grey Group Greater China has 500 employees and operations in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Taipei.
O'Conor joined Ogilvy as a graduate trainee at Ogilvy London in the mid-1990s. He served as a group account director and moved to Sydney in 2001 as regional business director for IBM. Moving to Hong Kong, he became MD in 2007 and group CEO in 2010.
