Petronas celebrates an introvert from Sabah

THE WORK: 'Uni' for Petronas by IPG Mediabrands Malaysia.

This work came out about a month ago, on Petronas' 45th anniversary, but Ad Nut presents it today because it's meant to coincide with Malaysia Day (today), as well as Merdeka (August 31). And because it's good.

While it's a universally relatable story of heading off to university, it's designed to have special significance that might not be readily apparent to non-Malaysians. Says Chan Woei Hern, ECD of IPG Mediabrands Malaysia:

We have always wanted to tell a story about Malaysia that is truly inclusive, and centred around our East-Malaysians counterparts, as this group is often overlooked in our usual national narrative.

The film was directed by Ismail Kamarul of Reservoir Production and features an exclusive original soundtrack titled ‘Boleh Bah Kalau Kau’, by musician and songwriter Darren Ashley.

Ad Nut is a surprisingly literate woodland creature that for unknown reasons has an unhealthy obsession with advertising. Ad Nut gathers ads from all over Asia and the world for your viewing pleasure, because Ad Nut loves you. You can also check out Ad Nut's Advertising Hall of Fame, or read about Ad Nut's strange obsession with 'murderous beasts'.
