Oreo transmutes red-velvet variety into a CNY treat

Mondelez chooses an auspicious time to introduce its red product in Southeast Asia, with a cute spot by FCB Jakarta.

If you're Mondelez, and you've got a red-coloured cookie variety to offer, it absolutely makes sense to promote it at this time of year in this part of the world—especially with a delightful commercial like this one from FCB Jakarta.

The plot of the ad tickled something in Ad Nut's noggin, and though it took a while, Ad Nut eventually figured out what it was: the famous 'The Force' Super Bowl ad, created by Deutsch in 2011 for Volkswagen. Whether the Oreo spot is a purposeful homage or simply a coincidence Ad Nut can't say. But in any case, it can't hurt Oreo's chances that the campaign resembles one of the most memorable spots of the last decade.

Besides, George Lucas definitely appropriated various martial arts concepts when he created Star Wars, so it seems only fair.
