Olympus partners with TBWA Tequila for XZ-1 model launch

HONG KONG – Electronics firm Olympus has selected TBWA Tequila Hong Kong as its AOR responsible for overseeing ABL communications in preparation for the launch of a new line of digital cameras.

The campaign featuring Olympus XZ-1 includes an above-the-line campaign featuring a 30-second TV commercial, print outdoor and online advertising. It will run throughout March 2011.

“TBWA recognises Olympus as a like-minded innovative company as well as a market leader when it comes to digital camera technology,” explained Joanne Lao, managing director of TBWA Tequila Hong Kong. “Our team in Hong Kong is looking forward with Olympus on this exciting new launch."

Olympus pointed out that the product becomes the first digital camera to feature an embedded professional standard lens, and is targeted towards those who enjoy using compact cameras without necessarily compromising the quality of the images.

Edmond Wong, marketing manager of imaging business division for Olympus in Hong Kong and China, explained, “People in Hong Kong and China are among the earliest adopters of new digital camera technology. The XZ-1 is the first-ever digital compact camera to feature a Zuiko branded lens of big aperture – f/1.8. The XZ-1 has a bright, high resolution OLED screen and its high sensitivity sensor gives users excellent control.”
