It's a damn shame that this brilliant PSA from the US exists

This PSA about guns in America is fantastic, but it's tragic that it had to be made.

If you haven't already seen this amazing work by BBDO New York on behalf of Sandy Hook Promise (a nonprofit led by families of victims of a December 2012 shooting at a preschool in the US), Ad Nut implores you to watch it now. Carefully. And don't read any further until you do.

(Spoilers ahead)

The film is undeniably brilliant—an elaborate variation on this famous clip about inattentional blindness. And the message is probably a good one given the harsh reality on the ground in the US. But Ad Nut feels overwhelming sadness that such a message is necessary.

In addition to teaching everyone to be on guard about potential shooters, Ad Nut hopes US citizens can demand reasonable gun-control laws that would make such massacres less likely. Perhaps some day, preparations such as shooting drills in primary schools will no longer be necessary.

Ad Nut recognises that this is sadly unlikely to happen given the incoming administration and the gun-happy (NRA-beholden) makeup of the US Congress. But a squirrel can dream.
