The film, titled simply as "Shanghai" runs for four and a half minutes, and features scenes of Shanghai in the morning, noon, and night - with synchronised broadcasts corresponding to New York's local times of the day.
This isn’t the only way China is promoting itself as a tourist destination in the US.
Earlier this month, Xinhua News Agency started China's PR push with an ad on the same Times Square billboard, following the recent move of its North American head office to New York’s Broadway.
