Ad Nut: Your weekly worldwide ad roundup, starring a shrimp cannon

Ad Nut scurries all over the internet to bring you ads that are notably good, notably odd, or both. This week: NTT Docomo cooks shrimp violently, Harvey Nichols reaffirms that greed is good, Maxis Malaysia threatens to kill its CTO, and much more.

Ad Nut gathers ads from anywhere about anything (as opposed to the editors here, who only devote their oh-so-precious time to campaigns that have something to do with Asia-Pacific. Once a week, Ad Nut presents the latest collection here for your viewing pleasure.

Above: NTT DoCoMo's wonderfully inexplicable "Three-Second Cooking: Explosively Fast Fried Shrimp" (via The Verge)

McVities Victoria uses cute animals in this, its first Christmas ad in 32 years in the UK (by Grey London). We have kittens, puppies, a hedgehog, a piglet, a bloody duckling...Ad Nut strongly objects to the appalling lack of squirrel. (via Campaign UK)

Celebrating avarice worked out well for Harvey Nichols last year, so the retailer has returned to the well of selfishness for 2014 with this spot by Adam&Eve:

Here's some sound advice from underwear brand Fruit of the Loom, in a spot by CP+B (via Campaign US):

Arby's forgot about an obligation to feature Pepsi in two ads per year in the US, so it made up for it with this ad, by Fallon (via Ad Freak):

Maxis Malaysia threatens to kill its CTO (but not really...we think) if its network isn't as fast as promised, in this series of ads by Ogilvy Malaysia:

From German grocer Edeka and agency Jung Von Matt (who blessed us with the immortal "Supergeil" some months ago) comes this scanner-ific version of Jingle Bells:

Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne star in a seven-minute short film by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel (someone please wake Ad Nut when it's over):

An enjoyable little situation comedy for the Volkswagen Polo, by DDB Mudra in India (via Campaign India, where you can see two more ads from the same campaign):

Kmart and Joe Boxer (with FCB) have followed up last year's 'Jingle balls' with pregnant dancers:

Samsung and Cheil show you how you can raise a child and have a great career, as long as your smartphone is adequately powerful and you're fine with not being completely engaged with what your kid is doing (via Campaign India):

Motorola touts customisable phones in the US in this TVC by Droga5 (via Campaign US):

This ad instantly becomes Ad Nut's favorite bank ad ever:

That's all for now. Ad Nut will be back next week with more chestnuts. Please check out The Work section for Asia-specific ads, and follow Campaign Asia-Pacific on Facebook and Twitter (@CampaignAsia) to see new ads and more good stuff throughout the week.
