Y&R Singapore names managing director

SINGAPORE - Y&R Singapore has promoted Melvin Kuek as its managing director.

He was previously the chief client officer, a position he has held since joining Y&R Singapore in November 2011. He has more than 15 years experience in advertising and marketing, working on brands such as Changi Airport, ExxonMobil, M1, McDonalds and the National Trade Unions Congress (NTUC) at agencies DMB&B, DDB and TBWA.

The announcement was made by Sanjay Bhasin, chief executive officer Southeast Asia of Y&R, who has also named Adeline Chang as regional account director and Zach Wong as account director.

“We look forward to continued growth with Melvin at the helm,” Bhasin commented. “We also welcome Adeline and Zach on board, they are valuable additions to the team who both bring extensive account experience to Y&R.”

Chang was most recently with Dentsu. With more than nine years of experience in traditional advertising as well as digital marketing, Chang has worked wth clients like CapitaLand, IKEA, G2000, Toyota, Uniqlo, HPB and Ministry of Manpower. She started out at local shops Mandate and 3-Sixty Brand Communications before joining DDB and Tribal DDB.

Joining from Tribal DDB, Wong also previously worked with Ogilvy & Mather Singapore. Among the clients he has worked with are Changi Airport, McDonalds, StarHub, American Express and Intercontinental Hotel Group.
