Weber Shandwick poaches Edelman talent to head up lifestyle, corporate in Australia

SYDNEY - Weber Shandwick has hired Edelman Australia's head of lifestyle, Elke Pascoe (pictured), to lead its lifestyle practice in the country and parts of Asia-Pacific, heightening the recruiting rivalry between agencies in Australia.

According to the agency, Pascoe will lead Weber Shandwick’s broader lifestyle practice in Australia and in some regional markets, building key relationships and heightening awareness of the offering.

She formerly led the same discipline at Edelman and worked with key clients including Reckitt Benkiser, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Etihad Airlines and The Wrigley Company. Prior to her work at Edelman, Pascoe ran her own PR and events-marketing agency in Ireland.

In addition to Pascoe, Weber Shandwick appointed six-year Edelman veteran, Carly Herrig, to lead its business communications unit in Australia.

Herrig, who is originally from Australia, co-led corporate operations for Edelman in Chicago.

The appointments come as PR agencies in Australia are seen to undergo a noteworthy talent reshuffle. Last month, Edelman was seen as raiding its rivals to staff its new Australian operations, appointing Hill & Knowlton veteran Michelle Hutton to take charge of its Australian office and poaching Alexandra Kelly from Weber Shandwick to take the role of GM in Sydney.

Weeks later, Weber Shandwick's regional head of digital, Matthew Gain, departed the agency to lead Edelman's digital operations in Australia.
