In a statement, Miller said he plans to take “an extended sabbatical from the corporate world”. He described his tenure of nearly 17 years with SPT as “thrilling”.

“I plan to focus on family, to deepen my involvement with Asian children’s charities, and do some more cycling in my quest to ultimately circumnavigate the planet on two wheels,” he explained.

Miller has been with SPT since 1994. In his current role, he led development and operations of the company’s channel portfolio in the region, which includes AXN, AXN Beyond, Animax and Sony Entertainment Television. Recent channel launches include One in Malaysia. Miller was also responsible for AXN’s joint venture with CU Media in Korea.

Prior to joining SPT, Miller worked at Star TV Asia. He is on the board of directors at Multi Screen Media, TV1 and Premium Movie Partnership. He is also a board member of Animax Korea, AXN Korea and the Cable and satellite broadcasting association of Asia (Casbaa).

SPT has not announced a replacement for Miller at this stage. He is due to leave the company on 15 April.
