Spikes Asia 2012 opens for entries, with new categories for branded content, effectiveness

ASIA-PACIFIC - Spikes Asia, the regional Asia-Pacific awards and festival for creative excellence in advertising and communications, is now accepting entries.

Spikes Asia 2012 opens for entries, with new categories for branded content, effectiveness

This year, Spikes Asia, slated for 16-18 September in Singapore, introduces two new award categories: Branded Content and Entertainment, and Creative Effectiveness. This brings the total number of categories to 16.

The juries will convene in Singapore in September to judge the entries and award the Spike trophies during the awards ceremony, which will bring the festival to a close on 18 September.

The Branded Content & Entertainment category will honour creative marketing messages that engage consumers via relevant content platforms other than traditional advertising methods, while Creative Effectiveness will reward creativity that has shown a measurable and proven impact on a client’s business—creativity that affects consumer behaviour, brand equity, sales, and where identifiable, profit.

This year will also feature the introduction of the Spikes Palm Award, which will be presented to the most awarded production company in the Film and Film Craft sections. The award will be calculated on a points basis, with different values attributed to each award and shortlist place: 10 points for the Grand Prix, seven points for a Gold Spikes Asia Award, five points for a Silver, three points for a Bronze and one point for a shortlist entry.

"Asia Pacific is both an exciting and growth region," commented Myriam Coupard, festival director. "The addition of the Branded Content and Entertainment and Creative Effectiveness categories is not only important for the continued development of Spikes Asia, but also recognises the importance of combining marketing and entertainment as well as the value of creativity in effective communications."

The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity will be held at Suntec Singapore. It is the result of a collaboration between Lions Festivals, organisers of Cannes Lions, Dubai Lynx and Eurobest, and Haymarket, publishers of Campaign Asia-Pacific.
