Singapore Portfolio Night 9 'speed-dating' set-up a success

SINGAPORE - Singapore Portfolio Night 9 proved to be a success as it saw 20 creative directors and 45 creative students take part in the event on 26 May which sought to open doors for aspiring young creatives to break into the advertising industry.

Portfolio Night 9 is the largest simultaneous advertising portfolio review with a 'speed-dating' type of set-up. Creative directors from Singapore's advertising agencies shared their portfolios, tips and the occasional odd job offer with the budding creative students.

The event was co-hosted by JWT Asia-Pacific, Y&R Asia and Bates 141, and supported by Campaign Asia-Pacific. Other sponsors of Portfolio Night Singapore include Click Photos, Pizza Hut Singapore and Moviola, while global sponsors include Corbis, Blurb and Creative Niche.

Students that participated also showed their enthusiasm, providing feedback with comments such as "such a great idea", "I would be nervous to approach a creative director on my own but I felt very comfortable in this setting", and "I've seen five different creative directors tonight and the tips they've given me will definitely help me to improve my portfolio."

Started in 2002, Portfolio Night is IHAVEANIDEA’s annual event, where advertising’s top creative talents come together to review the portfolios of students, juniors and creative hopefuls in an exciting and engaging environment.

"Tonight was a huge success for both the creatives and the students. The energy was exhilarating with the venue buzzing until late into the evening. I even saw one creative director interviewing in the car park when we'd turned all the lights off," commented Tay Guan HIn, regional executive director at JWT Southeast Asia.
