Ogilvy PR to launch the Hong Kong equestrian Masters

The Hong Kong Masters will be an annual event, from 2012 to 2017. With the support of the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation, Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Hong Kong Masters aims to cement Hong Kong on the international equestrian calendar, attracting the world's best riders, as well as dignitaries, elites and socialites.

Many prestigious brands, such as Gucci, Audi and Rolex, have been associated with the Equestrian Masters in Europe since 2004, and AEM says it is now finalising the contract with gold and silver sponsors for the 2012 event in Hong Kong.

Ogilvy PR was selected after a five-way competitive pitch in the third quarter if this year. Some of its major responsibilities will include publicity and promotional work for the Hong Kong Masters, corporate communications and event management.

Juan Dedeu, president of the Hong Kong Masters, says the event will cost over US$10 million to bring to Hong Kong. “This is our first year in bringing The Masters to the region after nine successful years in organising the events across Europe," he said.

"Ogilvy PR’s expertise in organising international events in Hong Kong, its creativity and its unparalleled Asia-Pacific network make them the perfect partner for Hong Kong Masters.”

The worlds top 25 elite show jumpers and their horses, including Olympic champion Eric Lamaze and European champion Kevin Staut, along with Hong Kong representatives, will gather in Hong Kong to showcase the skills and elegance with their horses at their very best, whilst competing for a prize of US$1 million.

Steve Dahllof, regional CEO of Ogilvy PR Worldwide said that Hong Kong was the perfect location to play host to the Masters, especially given the city's success in hosting the 2008 Beijing Olympics equestrian events.”
