MTV Australia launches three new channels, increases market presence

SYDNEY - MTV Networks Australia is increasing its distribution with 36 per cent by moving onto Foxtel's 'Get started' tier on 1 November in addition to launching MTVN and high-definition channels MTV Hits and MTVNHD.

Flagship channel MTV will move onto Foxtel’s ‘Get started’ tier which will increase its distribution by an additional 400,000 homes in Australia. 

The new channels MTVN, MTV Hits and MTVNHD expands the portfolio of MTV channels in Australia to five 24-hour programming services. 

“2010 has been a huge year for MTV Networks Australia - which kicked off with launch of MTV Classic - and by adding MTV Hits, MTVNHD – and it’s SD cousin MTVN - to the mix, we are able to offer ‘5 pack’ of MTV branded channels which will appeal to Aussie music and entertainment fans of all ages and tastes,” said Rebecca Batties, GM of music brands at MTV Networks Australia and New Zealand.

Foxtel will include the three new MTV channels in its ‘Kids & Music’ package and MTVN HD will also be available to its HD subscribers.
