Tan is charged with managing the network’s bureaus in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as partner offices in other mainland cities. He will also oversee client relationships with multinational and domestic companies, including Coca-Cola, World Gold Council, Nestle, sanofi-aventis and clients associated with the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

Prior to his appointment, Tan led the brand communications and technology practices at Hill & Knowlton China, and is credited for overseeing the firm’s expansion into second-tier cities in the market. He was at Hill & Knowlton for five years, based in Beijing.

Tan has also worked in in-house communications, holding a regional marketing role for DHL Asia-Pacific for three years out of Singapore. He also worked in brand management roles for British American Tobacco and Asia-Pacific Breweries.

“Ben joins MS&LGroup at a crucial period for counseling MNCs in China,” said Glenn Osaki, president of MS&LGroup Asia.

“The need for strategic public relations has never been greater, as China drives the global economy, undergoes a rapid communications transformation, and captivates the world’s attention and imagination through the 2010 Shanghai Expo.”
