Mentos’ new ‘Love story’ ad ends with an unexpected twist

Mentos has rolled out a new ad campaign featuring a love story with an unexpected twist that will blow you away.

Mentos’ new ‘Love story’ ad ends with an unexpected twist

Crafted by BBH China, the ad features the new Mentos variant Pure Fresh Dual Layer Chewing Gum.

True to its light-hearted and unconventional take on life, the Mentos campaign tells a short love story of a couple in a long-distance relationship, and how one of them finds a way to literally send a sample of his breath - with the help of Mentos.

The story ends with a quirky twist that is both humorous and memorable while demonstrating the very strong and fresh effects of Mentos.

The 'Love story' campaign includes a TVC and four print advertisements and will roll out across China over the next few weeks.

"When our task was to launch a new Mentos chewing gum in the market, our first thought was that we want our consumers to be thoroughly surprised when watching what starts out to be a rather conventional story," said Johnny Tan, CD at BBH China. "Girl misses boy. Boy sends girl a sample of his breath in a bottle. What could possibly happen next?"

The films are directed by five-time Most Awarded Director in the World by Gunn Report, Thanonchai Sornsriwichai.

Mentos is one of five Perfetti Van Melle brands that BBH works with globally. The BBH network currently also handles Alpenliebe (China), Chupa Chups (Global), and Frisk and Vigorsol (Europe) accounts.
