MediaCom has promoted its head of investment strategy for North Asia to be its new chief investment officer for Asia-Pacific, effective immediately.

Paul Waller, who joined MediaCom in 2015 as its China investment strategy leader, will now relocate to Singapore from Shanghai to take up the reins, replacing Simon Broderick, who is returning to the UK for family reasons.

Waller has 18 years of industry experience, much of it in Australia where he worked for OMD and Starcom in trading and investment roles.

“Paul’s experience in China and Australia, his exposure across multiple North Asia markets, his knowledge of MediaCom and GroupM all stood him in good stead," MediaCom’s APAC CEO Mark Heap, said in a release. "What makes him unquestionably the right choice is his track record of delivering outstanding results and forging great internal relationships.”

Waller has worked with brands including AkzoNobel, FAW-VW and Richemont and has played a key role in advancing MediaCom/GroupM’s cross-screen planning capabilities, according to MediaCom.

The appointment, which makes Waller part of the MediaCom APAC leadership team (ExCo), was made after a thorough internal and external search, Heap said.

In the UK, Broderick will be taking up a new yet-to-be confirmed leadership position within a GroupM agency.
