MEC Philippines appoints Malu Vasallo as managing director
The media veteran joined from OMD Philippines where she was in the same role. Previously, she was vice-president at Universal McCann Philippines and had been with the IPG firm for seven years.

She will report to Stephen Li (pictured), MEC’s CEO, South and Southeast Asia and Australasia.

Vasallo’s appointment completes a series of new leadership appointments for three of its offices in Southeast Asia.

Last October, Jaydeep Chaudhuri, assumed the role of managing director to helm MEC Indonesia. In Malaysia, Law Chan Keong was appointed managing director in September 2009.

According to Li, all three of his managing directors are already “doing fabulous jobs” and have “big visions for the future” in each of their respective markets.

Separately, MEC also appointed Michelle Ko as president of China and Tommy Au as general manager of Shanghai, earlier this month.

"While China and India remain as important to MEC as to any agency; we also devote a lot of time and energy to ensuring that in Southeast Asia, we will always attract the best clients by having the best agencies, staffed with the very best people," added Li.
