The creative account, which is split between international and domestic travel campaigns, has been awarded to McCann Erickson and Bangkok Writers - a local shop specialising in travel and tourism, respectively.

The media account will be handled by Universal McCann.

Sources have declined to reveal the ad spend budget, but have confirmed that account is effective for three years from January 2011 until December 2014.

According to a source, three agencies, namely McCann Erickson, Bangkok Writers and Leo Burnett, were short-listed for an e-auction, following which the tourism authority selected the two finalists.

The TAT had called a pitch for its creative and media business in July this year, as part of the statutory review of its roster of agencies.

Leo Burnett handled the domestic travel campaigns and initiatives, and McCann Worldgroup, was charged with marketing Thailand as a tourist spot overseas to international markets.

TAT's media agency partners were Starcom for domestic travel and Universal McCann for international travel.
