In light of his resignation, MediaCorp said that it has already started searching for his replacement both from outside and within the company.

MediaCorp is Singapore’s leading media company with platforms including television, radio, newspapers, magazines, movies, digital and out-of-home media.

Chow joined the company in December 2005 and under his helm, raked in numerous international awards, including Asian Television’s Terrestrial Broadcaster and Terrestrial Channel last year. It also launched innovative products such as the video portal Xinmsn.sg, high definition channel HD5, out of home business, and an over-the-top TV service currently in the pipeline.

Furthermore, Chow oversaw the restructuring and integration of MediaCorp’s sales and marketing division, integrating the efforts of TV, radio, print and interactive to provide a one-stop solution for advertisers.

MediaCorp also initiated and led a regional broadcaster’s association called SMART Alliance that aims to synergise efforts in programming, sales and technology.

Elaborating on his resignation, Chow said, “I think the timing is right for a new CEO to take over the reins from here. Having been with MediaCorp for five years, I think I have done what I set out to do, and it is time to move on”.

MediaCorp chairman Teo Ming Kian noted that under Chow’s watch, MediaCorp has done well to keep up with audiences’ needs and changes sweeping the media industry.
