Clive Punter has been promoted to global managing director for marketing solutions, having previously headed the division in Europe. A former CBS Outdoor chief, Punter will report to Mike Gamson, senior vice-president of global sales.

The site is yet to run any consumer-facing marketing.

On 22 March, Linked In announced on its official blog that it has reached 100 million members worldwide, adding one million new members every week.

"The equivalent of a professional joining the site at faster than one member per second," the post stated.

The fastest growth has come out of Brazil with a 428 per cent year-on-year increase in 2010. More than half of Linked In members (56 million) are based outside the States.
