SINGAPORE - IPG Mediabrands has appointed Scott McBride as chief digital officer for APAC, effective 29 August. He is currently managing partner at Ogilvy & Mather Group, Hong Kong.

In the newly created position, McBride will drive innovation and adaptability of Mediabrands’ digital product to its key global and regional clients.

He will eventually report directly to Terry Leigh, the recently announced CEO of IPG Mediabrands in Asia Pacific, who will be officially starting at the end of the year. In the interim, he will be reporting to Reg Davidson, CFO of IPG Mediabrands, Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, McBride will also be tasked with accelerating the network’s digital offering in areas of search (Reprise), social (Rally/Society), mobile (Ansible) and programmatic (Cadreon), while working with the account servicing and digital buying and activation teams for the UM and Initiative brands.

Davidson said McBride’s long-standing digital experience and multi-cultural exposure were “invaluable assets”.
