Interested participants can log on to www.espnstar.com/starcommentator, and using a web camera, record a video of themselves reading off a selected script and submit their auditions online.

The top 16 finalists, selected by the ESS-Skype team, will be interviewed via Skype video calling for a chance to win over US$5,000 worth of prizes as well as an opportunity to spend a day at the ESS studios and present a segment on ESPN’s SportsCenter Asia.

The Skype Star Commentator Contest will also feature an interactive Fan Chat segment that will use Skype’s video calling technology to facilitate conversations between SportsCenter Asia presenters in-studio and fans anywhere in the region.

Charles Less, senior vice-president of advertising and digital media sales, said, “ESS is excited about this initiative and leveraging on innovative technology such as Skype. Sports viewers are some of the most passionate energetic people in Asia and this promotion will give Skype a creative and interactive way to connect to this group.”

The eventual winner will be selected by a panel of judges from ESS and Skype and the results will be announced in November 2009.

Earlier this month, Skype struck a deal with CNN International to sponsor its 'Connect the world' segment as part of the telephony company's global advertising campaign.
