Kobler... "changing customer behaviour a key challenge"

For the Langham Hotels client, the first assignment for EmporioAsia Leo Burnett will be to improve the digital strength of the group’s flagship Shanghai Xintiandi property through internet marketing and search engine optimisation, particularly for its food-and-beverage and conference revenue streams.

Vincent Kobler (pictured), managing director of the agency, said that its strong experience and understanding of the travel and hotel industry in China helped it to win the pitch in June. EmporioAsia previousy worked with hotel groups like Hilton, Conrad and Marriott.

Kobler said that changing customers’ behaviour was one of the key challenges, as people were used to doing online bookings for hotel accommodation. "We hope to help to widen the online bookings among MICE, wedding and food-and-beverage customers.”

GCL Group is a Hong Kong-listed conglomerate with over 70 subsidiaries. For this account, the agency will be tasked to build a new website that reflects the strong corporate investment in solar power and shows the vertical integration of the company's product offerings.

Meanwhile, the agency has also won website duties for Masan Group, helping its mining, resources and consumer divisions make in-roads into the Vietnam market.

Masan is one of Vietnam’s largest diversified companies, and is considering an initial public offering next year. Hence this corporate website project is a very important investment platform, Kobler said.
