DDB hires Johan Ostlund for director role in Japan

TOKYO - Johan Ostlund has been appointed as director of behaviour planning in Japan, a role created on the back of the agency's growing international business.

Ostlund will be responsible for strategic planning and brand strategy for DDB Group Japan's international clients including Lipton, Volkswagen, McDonald's and Nikon.

He will be tasked with identifying insights and opportunities to communicate and connect in a Japanese context.

On the appointment, president and CEO of DDB Group Japan Takashi Takeda, said, “Johan comes to Japan with extensive experience and knowledge on multinational business. He has also worked with DDB in four markets so he brings an international flair ingrained in DDB culture.”

In addition to Japan, Ostlund has also worked with DDB in Stockholm, London and Hong Kong. Prior to his new role, he was regional planning director for McDonald's Asia-Pacific.

Originally from Sweden, he has more than 10 years experience working across many industries and major brands including McDonald's, Nestle, Capital One and Eurocard.
