Chen was previously vice-president of business development at You On Demand, a position he held for almost four years. He led a team that launched new app technologies and developed video-on-demand partnerships with Xiaomi, Huawei and CNTV.

In his new role at CTV*, Chen will be responsible for managing relationships with clients and platforms within China while also seeking out local talent.

Craig Galvin, CEO of Commercialize TV, told Campaign Asia-Pacific that Chen’s appointment was a "vital ingredient for CTV's success" as it moves into its next stage of growth after launching in China in conjunction with Baidu's C Fashion Network during March 2015.

“Chinese consumers are spending significantly more time watching internet content on various devices, both at home and on-the-go, and this presents an opportunity for CTV to offer our premium content to the Chinese audience," added Chen.

Other similar multi-channel networks operating in Greater China include TMG Originals (mainland China) and VS Media (Hong Kong).

* Editor's note: not to be confused with CTV in Canada or CCTV in China.
