Christine Brendle to depart Dow Jones, Wall Street Journal in Asia

HONG KONG - A spokesman for Dow Jones has confirmed that Christine Brendle, managing director of Dow Jones Asia-Pacific and publisher of the The Wall Street Journal in Asia, is stepping down.

Rumors of the change have been circulating for some time. The spokesman indicated that no replacement has been named but offered no further details.

Brendle has been with Dow Jones since February of 2006. Prior to that she had a 17-year career with the Hachette Filipacchi publishing group in Asia, the US and Europe. As MD of Dow Jones, Brendle had responsibility for strategic development throughout the region, including not only the Journal but also Dow Jones Newswires, Dow Jones Factiva and several localized Web sites, including asia.WSJ.com, as well as Chinese, Japanese, and recently launched Korean and Indonesian language sites.
