Cathy Kuang rejoins ZenithOptimedia as GM for Zed Digital Beijing

BEIJING - Cathy Kuang has rejoined ZenithOptimedia as general manager of Zed Digital Beijing.

She returns to the agency from where she started her career, with some 15 years' experience in digital and integrated marketing in China.

Kuang (pictured) said she accepted Steven Chang, CEO of ZenithOptimedia Greater China’s invitation to rejoin the agency to enhance the overall online business and capabilities of Zed Digital Beijing. In this newly-created role, Kuang will continue to grow the digital team and win new clients.

Currently Zed Digital Beijing's key clients include Red Bull, Reckitt Benckiser, while Optimedia has Lexus and Mengiu. Its newly formed search marketing sister agency Performics also won Micosoft’s search marketing account in July.

“My career life began in ZenithOptimedia, which laid a solid foundation for my development in the industry. I’m so pleased to come back here and work with the (same) colleagues again,” Kuang said, “It’s an interesting time, with our good client base and the fast growth of online business in China.”

Kuang started her media agency career at ZenithOptimedia China in 1996. Over seven years, she held responsibility for media planning on key accounts including Nokia, and Xian Janssen.

She then joined Mindshare in 2004 to join a newly developed division of entertaintment, sponsorship and programming, in this national role, she helped Mindshare clients in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to seize media strategic opportunities in TV sponsorship, and product placements in drama series and movies.

After two years, Kuang was promoted to be the head of Maxus Beijing, tasked with growing the team from 10 to 30-strong, and serving key clients like Red Bull, Yili, Versace and a host of local enterprises.

Kuang then moved on to join China’s top digital agency Hylink as head of the Hylink Interactive think-tankfrom 2008 to 2011. This role included business development for companies in different categories from FMCG, autumobile, and business-to-consumer.

On welcoming Kuang back to the agency, Chang said that digital marketing had become a key focus for advertisers, who in turn bring up new demands to agencies. "Cathy has plenty of experience in digital and integrated marketing," he said. "I believe Zed Digital Beijing will acquire more exciting achievements under her leadership."
