Brands urge India's women to live for themselves

Several brands have created campaigns ahead of International Women's Day 2019. Here are some of the campaigns that have caught our attention.

Bournvita
In an activiation conceptualised by Ogilvy, Cadbury Bournvita asked women to not forget themselves. The film shows how women tend to care of everyone but themselves and disregard their own health and nutrition in the course.

Candere
Candere's campaign that was conceptualised by Bandstand Videos urges women to celebrate their individuality, dreams, and strengths. The video revolves around the lives of seven women, who are asked questions that are stereotypically asked women.

Edelweiss Group
Edelweiss Mutual Fund's film for the occasion shows the importance of right advice. It shows the story of Bhakti Sharma, an Indian girl who broke the world record in 2015 by swimming 2.25 kms in the freezing waters of Antarctica. She talks about how she owes her success to her coach, Leena Sharma – also her mother. The idea is to state that the right advice can have the voice of a woman.

Greenply Plywood
Greenply's social experiment looked to explain how women often tend to underestimate themselves. Women were invited to an art gallery, where various objects were displayed inside a wardrobe. They were asked a question: Which of the things they saw were made by women. As each of the women inspected the objects, all guesses gravitated towards the objects, like clothes, food etc. Not one person thought that the furniture was made by a woman. The experiment was conceptualised by Ogilvy.

iD
iD has rolled out a film, on the theme for this year's International Women's Day  #BalanceForBetter. Conceptualised by Langoor, this film shows a man cooking for his wife. He takes the pledge and urges other men to do the same by cooking thrice a week.

Kotak Silk
Conceptualised by Tonic Worldwide, the film for Kotak Silk pays a tribute to women who have chosen the unconventional path.

Max Fashion
Max Fashion has urged women to not be conscious about what they wear with their film, 'behen kuch bhi pehen’. The film has been conceptualised by Dentsu Webchutney, and features a jingle sung by Anushka Manchanda,

Prega News
Prega News's #YourSecondHome campaign which was conceptualised by ADK Fortune, got an extension this Women's Day. The film shows a lady look to support her household help during her pregnancy.

Volkswagen
This film shows a driver performing donuts while racing and drifting while braking. It's revealed at the end of the film that the driver is a lady, Shivani Pruthvi who is a professional race driver. The film was conceptualised by PHD.

Zivame
Zivame's Women’s Day campaign titled #TheBraMatters, highlights the unnoticed and underplayed contribution of women to society, just as the bra goes unnoticed in a woman’s life. It features women giving brief insights on various attributes that define a woman and compare them to how the bra helps women without being given enough credit.

Chandrika hair oil - Men of Pongala
Pongala is a women-centric festival in Kerala where millions turn out to spend the entire day in the scorching sun in front of a stove preparing payasam in an earthen pot as an offering to Attukal Bhagvathi (Goddess Durga). This makes them sweat and their hair turns sweaty, rough and unmanageable. This year, the men gave them a surprise.
